Setup Instructions
Device
Alive will be automatically set up for demo purposes using a special code,
please see the instructions below.
Be sure to follow the
instructions explicitly so that the device sets up specifically for the Veer,
DO NOT sign in with profiles that were used for previous devices like the Pre
Plus or Pixi or it will automatically download the wrong demo application. If
this occurs, see FAQ resolution below to resolve it.
Following completion of the profile
setup process, be sure to start Device Alive the first time manually by
selecting the DA icon from the phone menu, after this the application will run
continuously and start automatically when the phone boots.

FAQ:
Q: A previous version
of the Device Alive application for the Pre Plus or Pixi is running on the Veer?
A: Be sure to
follow the instructions for the Veer exactly to download and install the
correct version of the DA application and be sure NOT to sign in with any
profiles that were created/used for the previous devices. If old profiles are
used, it will automatically download the version of the application for the old
device. If this occurs, perform a HARD RESET on the Veer and step through the
instructions in the instructions document linked to above on this page.
Q: Why doesn't
Device Alive start automatically when the phone is booted?
A: Be sure
Device Alive has been run the first time by starting it manually using the
Device Alive icon on the phone menu. This may also be necessary to reset the
application if the battery is pulled from the phone, starting Device Alive
manually will reset the application to start automatically thereafter.
Q: Why does
the application update and/or download videos processes take so long or fail to
complete?
A: It is
important to be sure that you have temporarily set up a Wi-Fi connection on the
phone, or that you have a live SIM card inserted and high-quality network
coverage in order to be able to complete the download. This connection is only
required during the setup or upgrade process and the application will run
normally without any connection.
Q: Why does
the Device Alive keep asking me to download videos?
A: When the videos
on the phone are deleted or a new set of videos are available, the Device Alive
application will automatically prompt you to download a new set. If the videos
have been deleted from the phone, the Get
Videos screen will only allow you to proceed into the application once
videos have been downloaded. If new videos are available to replace the ones
currently on the device, the Get Videos
screen will allow you to select the LATER
option to proceed to the application using the existing videos and to download
at a later time, but it will periodically display the Get Videos screen until the newer videos are downloaded. You can
re-display the Get Videos screen by
power cycling the phone and allowing Device Alive to automatically restart.
Q: Why can't I
connect to setup or update the Device Alive application?
A: It is
possible that the SIM in the device is not enabled for data access and will
therefore not be able to connect and download the required components. If that
is the case, you can use the COU system to request that the SIM be enabled for
data connections. Alternately, you can connect to the store Wi-Fi network to
complete the process, just be sure to disconnect from the network once you are
finished with the setup or upgrade.
